Mississippi State Announces Change in Head Football Coach

Zach Arnett Exits After 5-6 Season

Arnett Fired Following Loss to Texas A&M

Mississippi State University has announced that head football coach Zach Arnett has been fired after just one season at the helm. The Bulldogs finished the 2023 regular season with a disappointing 5-6 record, culminating in a 51-10 loss to Texas A&M.

Arnett was initially named interim head coach in December 2022 following the hospitalization of Mike Leach. After Leach's untimely death, Mississippi State removed the interim tag from Arnett's title.

Zac Selmon, Director of Athletics at Mississippi State, expressed his gratitude for Arnett's contributions but stated that the team needed a change in leadership.

Mississippi State is now searching for its next head football coach and will look to improve upon a disappointing 2023 campaign.
