The Minnesota Timberwolves continued their impressive playoff run on Sunday, defeating the Denver Nuggets 116-106 in Game 2 of their Western Conference semifinal series to take a commanding 2-0 lead.
Star guard Anthony Edwards led the way for the Timberwolves with a dominant performance, scoring 30 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Other key contributors included Karl-Anthony Towns, who had 21 points and 11 rebounds, and D'Angelo Russell, who added 20 points.
The Nuggets, who won the NBA championship last season, were clearly outplayed by the Timberwolves in Game 2. Nikola Jokic, the reigning MVP, was held to just 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon combined for only 23 points.
The Timberwolves took control of the game early, building a 14-point lead in the first quarter. They maintained their advantage throughout the game, shooting 50% from the field to the Nuggets' 40%.
With the victory, the Timberwolves now have a firm grip on the series. They will have a chance to take a 3-0 lead when they host Game 3 in Minneapolis on Tuesday night.
