NBA Playoffs: Timberwolves Take Game 1 Against Nuggets
Anthony Edwards Shines in Minnesota's Victory
Nuggets Face Unfamiliar Territory
The Minnesota Timberwolves have seized control of their Western Conference semifinal series with the Denver Nuggets, taking Game 1 by a score of 106-99. The victory puts the Nuggets in an unfamiliar position, as they have never before trailed in a playoff series.
Anthony Edwards led the way for the Timberwolves, scoring 30 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. He was joined in double figures by D'Angelo Russell (25 points) and Karl-Anthony Towns (22 points). Nikola Jokic paced the Nuggets with 27 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists.
The Timberwolves jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, leading by as many as 17 points in the fourth quarter. The Nuggets made a late push, cutting the lead to 5 points with less than two minutes remaining, but the Timberwolves held on for the victory.
The Nuggets will now look to even the series when they host the Timberwolves in Game 2 on Tuesday. However, they will need to find a way to stop Edwards, who has been a force in the series so far.
